Ways To Improve Your Indoor Air Quality This Fall

It’s that spooky time of year, and as the chill hits the air, and the heat begins to flow, you might notice a little strange and scary something coming from your home radiator. Though it might seem like a regular heating occurrence, those sounds have to mean and could be a sign that something needs to be fixed. So if you notice these haunted sounds, here’s how to fix them.

Bang Or Clanking

If you are hearing a loud banging and clanking that sounds like someone is hitting chains against the floor, it could be an issue with water settling and steam getting trapped. As the stream pushes the water through your radiator, the water can often get caught causing a loud banging noise. A simple tilt or shift or your radiator might be all you need to fix the issue.

Squeak Or Hissing

A constant squeak or long and clear hissing noise is an indicator that something is wrong. If you feel like your radiator is continually telling you to quiet down, chances are that air is escaping from somewhere. If this is the case, your air vents will need to be changed; luckily it’s not too expensive and is a quick repair.

The Deep Gurgle

A deep gurgling noise is often an easy fix. A radiator that sounds like it’s gurgling on mouthwash is a sign that air is building up. Bleeding it might do the trick, but if you still hear this unpleasant sound after, you might need an expert to take a look at it.
